In this video, entrepreneur, media proprietor and investor Jeff Bezos, widely known as the founder, executive chairman, and former president and CEO of Amazon, and previously the wealthiest person in the world, informs us that we don’t get to pick our passions, instead, they pick us. When you find your passion, it gives you purpose and direction in your life. Jeff Bezos also states that many people find out over time what their passions are, but they let their intellectual selves overrule those passions.
Most people are looking for meaning in their lives, and to know that they’re doing something meaningful and interesting.
Jeff Bezos also encourages people to be bold and to make bold bets. Whilst this can often result in failures, the few big successes will compensate for the many failures.
Jeff Bezos offers two pieces of advice that you can put into action right now:
1. Project yourself to age 80 and look back on your life, and try to make sure you’ve minimised the number of regrets you have.
2. Always take a long-term point of view. There is a great expanse of time ahead of you, so make sure you’re planning with that in mind so that you’re ultimately left satisfied with your life.
“There are a lot of paths to satisfaction and you need to find one that works for you”
- Jeff Bezos
